Atualizado: 17 de fev. de 2022
It will start today a new webinar series on Sustainable Soilless Farming, consisting of two sessions:
Webinar #1 - New developments and trends in commercial aquaponics (20th May)
Webinar #2 – Vertical farming: today and tomorrow (27th May)
About Soilless Farming:
Soilless farming requires small areas of land, low on resource intensity (water, energy and labor), no waste and no unusable by-products while delivering remarkably high quantity of fresh food. In recent years, new techniques have emerged making aquaponics more efficient providing even greater food safety.
Aquaponics is a symbiotic ecosystem between aquatic animals, microorganisms and plants, leveraging on natural processes, leaving synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and medication absent. It is probably one of the best examples of applied circular economy, the “farm to fork” strategy and food sustainability.
Recent studies point to an annual global market growth of 12.9% in the coming years, being expected to account for 55 billion USD by 2027. Marketed differences are found between USA and Europe. In webinar #1 we will address success cases from both continents and bring you the global perspective from the business association from the industry.
Vertical farming is the practice of producing food on vertical surfaces. That is, instead of growing vegetables and other foods on one surface, such as in a field or greenhouse, as we are used to, this method produces food in vertical layers, which makes it possible to maximize crops in a limited space.
In webinar #2 “Vertical Farming: Today and Tomorrow” you can learn about the possibilities of vertical farming and the industry perspective for solving today’s challenges and the solutions already successfully applied.
