Permanent grasslands are also part of our sustainable agriculture demonstrator, as they are the basis for sustainable livestock feeding, but they also have other functions.
Where we find land with steeper slopes, difficult to enter with machinery, or where vegetable and fruit production is not feasible, we try to keep the soil covered at all times. This practice is a priority to reduce erosion or compaction and to restore fertility and productivity.
At Food4sustainability CoLAB we believe that we should seek to make agricultural areas productive, meeting the European objectives and the quest for sustainability that we hear so much about.
We seek to evaluate and improve practices that, like this, protect not only our soils but the environment as a whole, such as carbon capture and storage.
