On World Food Day, the National Network for a Balanced and Sustainable Diet (RNAES) launched a new participatory digital platform based on Citizen Science, inviting everyone to actively engage in building a healthier and more sustainable food future.
The RNAES is an initiative whose main goal is to promote a balanced and sustainable diet throughout the national territory, engaging communities, institutions, and citizens.
With this new digital platform, anyone can contribute information about their eating habits and take part in a collaborative scientific research process. The tool allows users to assess their adherence to the Mediterranean Diet, collect and share daily recipes and meals, analyze food waste, and encourage more balanced and conscious food choices.
The platform’s development followed a Citizen Science approach, actively involving the population from the early stages of research. Before the platform was created, a national survey was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
The platform “We Are What We Eat” (“Somos o que comemos”) is now available to all citizens and can be accessed at 👉 https://oquecomemos.rnaes.pt/.
🍽️ Join the research!
Share what you eat, inspire others, and help build a healthier and more sustainable food future.
