Field Day in Pinhel Highlights Technological Innovation in Portuguese Viticulture

The Adega Cooperativa de Pinhel will host a Field Day focused on technological innovation in viticulture, bringing together producers, technicians, and associations for an event that showcases the transformation of traditional agriculture through cutting-edge technology.

From 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the AIRS project (Agriculture Innovation using Remote Sensing), funded by the PROMOVE – BPI | “la Caixa” Foundation programme. This project uses artificial intelligence and satellite imagery for precise monitoring of vine health, promoting more efficient and sustainable agricultural practices.

The programme includes technical presentations on plant nutrition and health, the use of satellite imagery to support decision-making, and an overview of the Pinhel Cooperative. On the practical side, participants will be able to observe the use of drones and leaf spectrometers in a demonstration vineyard, accompanied by experts from the organizing entities: TeroMovigo, Food4Sustainability, and the University of Beira Interior.

This Field Day offers a unique opportunity for the sector to learn about and apply technologies that promise to revolutionize viticulture in Portugal, aligning tradition with innovation for a more sustainable future.
